River Soma was formed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, carved in Portland, Oregon, fired in New York, N.Y., and honed in Storrs, Connecticut. River received her Bachelor’s in Studio Art from Hunter College in New York and her MFA from the University of Connecticut in May of 2019. River was honored to be selected for the 2018 National Juried Student Exhibition at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts during the annual NCECA conference (National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts).
River is a scavenger and collector of relics, both human and wild. She finds solace in photography, ceramics, meditation, and inspiration in metaphysics, dualities, and the natural world.
