River Soma was formed in Pittsburgh, Penn., carved in Portland, Oreg., fired in New York, N.Y., and honed in Hartford, Conn. River received her Bachelor’s in Studio Art from Hunter College in New York and her MFA from the University of Connecticut in May of 2019. River was honored to be selected for the 2018 National Juried Student Exhibition at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts during the annual NCECA conference (National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts). She will be exhibiting her work this summer with LMAK gallery in New York and with The Clay Center of New Orleans during the month of October.
River is a scavenger and collector of relics, both human and wild. She finds solace in meditation, and inspiration in metaphysics, dualities, and the natural world.
